Lee Card is the sheriff of Shady Brook.  He has a no-nonsense personality and a no-tolerance policy on disobedience.

History

Lee Card was born in 1970 and raised in a foster home in Trenton, Oklahoma without ever knowing his real parents.  He eventually made a living for himself on the streets as a teen by partaking in illicit deeds such as drug distribution.

In 1986, Robert Thompson, who had recently founded the town of Shady Brook and was searching for additions to his family, noticed Lee on the street one day and instantly took a liking to the young man.  He saw something in Lee--a gruffness and tenacity that Robert was not used to seeing in youths.  Robert got to know Lee, eventually taking him in as a surrogate son and raising him as his own in Shady Brook.  Robert shared his knowledge of The Old Ones with Lee, and Lee, having a family of his own for the first time, dedicated his life to furthering Robert's cause.

At the age of twenty, Lee Card was assigned the position of town sheriff--a position that he has held to this day.

In 2005, when Jake Torrent moved to Shady Brook, Lee Card immediately butted heads with the young author, sensing that he would cause "nothing but trouble"--a supposition that quickly became fact in the eyes of Lee's fellow town residents.
