Jessie Bartlett is a 16-year-old girl who works at a local Busy Mart in southern California.

History

Jessica Bartlett was born in March 1995, in Houston, Texas to Layla and Jerry Bartlett, a lawyer and doctor, respectively.  As a child, Jessie resented her parents focusing on their careers, as she was frequently left in daycare or at a friend's home during work hours.  This was a pattern that continued throughout Jessie's childhood and teen years.

Never having had adequate guidance, Jessie acted out and rebelled as a teenager, probably as a tactic to get negative attention from her parents.  This behavior exacerbated when work forced the family to move to southern California when Jessie was fourteen.

Layla's response over her daughter's defiant behavior was to assume that Jessie had too much time on her hands, and so she forced Jessie to get a job at the local Busy Mart convenience store around her school days.  This, however, served only to worsen Jessie's deviance.  In 2010, Jessie got involved with a bad crowd that frequently got together and smoked pot, which quickly ventured into hardcore drugs such as cocaine and heroin.  One night, during one of the group parties, Jessie was partially responsible for killing one of her male friends, Josh, urging him to sniff more cocaine than he could handle.  After this, Jessie felt wracked with guilt and began struggling with severe clinical depression, which prompted her to post on the website www.confessyourcrimes.com.

Stonewall Penitentiary

In December 2011, Jessie Bartlett was kidnapped by Sonny Peyton and brought to the abandoned Stonewall Penitentiary, located in Tunitia, Virginia in retaliation for her involvement in her friend's death.  There, with the help of another kidnapped victim, William Thane, Jessica barely escaped with her life.

Post-Stonewall Penitentiary

After escaping from Stonewall Penitentiary with William Thane, the two decided to drive back to their home state of California together.  Along the way, they stopped for dinner at a local diner in the town of Shady Brook.
